Great news! The new Lakegrounds play area is now open! The Lake Grounds Play Equipment Group and the Town Council are asking for local residents and children to come down and view the play area, show your support and have photos taken for the local press.
If you’re wondering how to amuse the kids this summer, then why not try one of North Somerset Council’s free family fun days in the parks? They’re held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer and are taking place in Clevedon, Portishead and Weston-super-Mare. Oh and did I mention they’re FREE?
As little ones, all my children have had masses of great fresh-air-fun at the Lakegrounds play area and as a parent, the surrounding facilities have made it a preferred local destination.
Almost eight years on, however, our visits have become rarer. Sadly my children are outgrowing the Lakegrounds and now we often find ourselves driving outside of Portishead for age appropriate play areas.
So when I received the following letter from another local Mum I was somewhat shocked. . . .
Yesterday we decided to go exploring. Some friends had mentioned a beach by Hillside Road, off Nore Rd in Portishead, so we packed up the car with a picnic and buckets and spades, hoping to find somewhere for our children to let off steam for an hour or two. We hadn’t really known what to expect, but the amazing weather and the pleasure our children found in just being left to their own devices, made it a very pleasant and stress free escape – without even leaving Portishead.
