LG 55″ Smart TV Unboxing, Set Up & Review
PRODUCT: LG 55UJ670V
A couple of times a year, appliance company AO.com invites me to choose an item to keep from a list of white goods and in return I produce honest video and written reviews where I’m encouraged to say exactly what I think about the product, pointing out both negatives and positives.
My latest selection was this 55 inch LG 4K smart TV, model number LG 55UJ670V
As all the family will use the TV, the review includes my children’s and husband’s perspectives too.

AO.COM’S SERVICE
When I ordered the TV from ao.com, I was given the delivery date I requested, as has been the case with previous orders. The day before delivery, I received a reminder text stating that the item would arrive from 7am the following day and to expect a further text in the morning and a tracking link. At 7.10 am the following day, I received another text with a four-hour delivery window (between 3 and 7 pm), a phone number and another tracking link. At 6.30 pm I received a phone call from the independent courier to let me know he was nearby.
I don’t like not having any idea of the time slot the night before delivery because I’m always worried they might turn up at 7am when I’m the shower, but apart from that, the system is efficient.
PACKAGING
TV and components arrived well packaged in their box with plenty of polystyrene to protect the contents.
SETTING UP
Initial set-up is straightforward. You just plug in the cables and follow the on-screen instructions, such as entering your wi-fi settings and postcode.
USING THE SMART TV
Using the ‘home’ button on the remote control takes you to the comprehensive smart TV menu which features numerous options such as Amazon, Netflix and catch up TV. My children were excited to discover they can now watch YouTube through this 55 inch TV! We have Sky so some of the apps and channels won’t be relevant to us but if you were using this as a standalone TV, these could be very desirable, alongside the built in FreeSat function.
LG 55UJ670V REVIEW
After we’d set the television up, the first thing we noticed was how good the picture quality was. You can also go into settings and change the presets to optimise the picture depending on whether you’re watching sport, films or gaming etc.
There are lots of other settings available, including accessibility options and parental controls.
We’ve only had the television for just over a week but are very happy with it so far. The picture quality is better than our old 50” HD TV (which we had thought was pretty good!).
The LG 55UJ670V is visually pleasing and much more streamlined and modern than or old model was and despite being 5” larger, it seems to take up no more space as the modern design means it doesn’t have the bulky surround which the older television had.
The smart TV function offers so many options – we haven’t had time to try them all yet. The ability to control the TV with your phone and to view the contents of your phone on the television seem potentially useful and were easy to set up. The TV also links to other services on your wi-fi network, for example it automatically connected to the Sonos speaker we use for music and offers a visually pleasing screen from which you can control the speaker playback.
THE VERDICT?
This is an attractive smart TV packed with masses of functions. It’s smaller and neater than expected. Great product – I can’t think of any negatives. Highly recommended!
