Team Honk Bristol – Clifton

team honk Bristol for Sport Relief

On Monday morning, before our Portishead leg kicked in, I popped across to Clifton to check out the slightly bonkers schedule they had planned for Sport Relief’s team honk relay.

The Bristol team had already set the standard high by, not only walking the distance from Chipping Sodbury, but setting themselves challenges along the way, as well as engaging the services of Bristol Ferry Company to transport them across the harbour.

I joined them on the terrace of Avon Gorge Hotel, where they were about to hold a zumba flash mob, before juggling along the length of  Clifton Suspension Bridge. Weather conditions were not brilliant.

Loving those stripy socks Kath from Knitty Mummy, who was the organisational force behind the flash mob!

Gemma Boppers

With a large group of bloggers involved, it’s not surprising that the #teamhonkrelay social media presence has been huge,
although if I’m honest here, I think Gemma from “Hello Its Gemma” was trying to track down a crucial lost member of our running team!

Ella the juggler

We’re all used to juggling families so how hard can actual juggling be?

See? Ella from Purple Mum can do it with no hands!

Juggling on the bridge

Ella makes this look so easy . . .

. . .but it was pretty blustery

Long Juggle

. . . and I’d never really noticed quite how long the Suspension Bridge was!

But she made it and proved that the girl still has it. Is that relief on your face Ella?

Yes, before children Ella used to do this kind of thing professionally. If you’d like to see more, there’s an amazing video from the archives here.

And there we have it – the end of the main Bristol leg and Ella hands the baton to Viv from 76 Sunflowers, Sam Blackmore Squires of Miss Fit, Portishead and her friend and running buddy, Karley Hughes.

Poor Jenny from Mum of One had been struck down with flu a few days before and wasn’t able to participate in the 5 mile run as planned, but managed to come along and cheer on the Bristol mob.

Well done ladies, you all did an amazing job.

You’re right Mummy Barrow, there’s a lot of talent out there.
But juggling? I’ll leave that to Ella!

Great post Jayne, and some lovely photos. It was a lovely morning, great to have fun with friends and raise money!

Thank you. Yes I was pleased with the photos – it’s all to do with the subject matter you see 😉

‘Crucial member of the team’ I like that! Yes, apologies for my slight lateness, didn’t mean to alarm! Great job everyone 🙂

You definitely were ‘crucial’ Viv. If you hadn’t arrived I’d have had to run which would have slowed the schedule down for the rest of the day I reckon!
