Portishead Raft Race

Preparations for the raft race have been a bit of a family affair this year. I feel like everyone has been behind me. A friend kindly lent us a gazebo, but the instructions had gone astray so my boys all offered to do a trial build in the garden and then practically perfect husband has relabelled all the poles and drawn a diagram in the hope that it will be an easier process today! My parents have lent me a camping table (which has also had a trial run!) and a whiteboard (our scoreboard).

Raft race preparations the day before

I asked Portishead’s GoFit team to join me on the stand and they were far too polite to refuse, so we will be running our little event together and hoping to raise a pound or two for charity with our mini kids’ triathlon. Children will take part in 3 events and their combined score will be recorded on a leader board, so similar to the one on Top Gear that it’s uncanny. As well as the fun and competitive element of taking part, there will be some really great prizes for the overall winners.

Our main prizes have been kindly donated by our sponsors The Play Port and Fox Cycling.

What would I like to get out of today?

  • Have some fun in the sun
  • Be a part of a great, free Portishead Community event
  • Raise some money for Springboard
  • Introduce Practically Perfect Mums to more families in Portishead

So if you don’t already have plans for today, why not come on down, have some fun, relax by the water and of course come and visit our stand to help us raise some cash for the Springboard charity? Looking forward to seeing lots of you there! For more details about today’s event, please click on the poster below.
