PUBS AND BARS ON PORTISHEAD MARINA
SIREN’S CALLING – PORTISHEAD MARINA
The Siren’s is a modern beer and wine bar on the marina. With their glass frontage and open-plan bar area, you’d be hard-pushed not to have sight of the marina from wherever you sit.
Apparently, some people enjoy hostelries such as this for the beverages on offer and not just the view out of the window! The husband speaks highly of the quantity and quality of the beers on offer, (and take my word for it, he knows about these things!).
Despite its modest size, The Siren’s Calling regularly hosts live music. These events are so popular that punters have packed in like sardines at the gigs we’ve attended.

PORTISHEAD PUBS OVERLOOKING THE SEA
THE ROYAL INN HOTEL, PORTISHEAD – PIER ROAD
The impressive Royal Inn enjoys an elevated position above Portishead Marina and beaches.
Since re-opening in 2023, following a major refurbishment, The Royal looks fabulous both inside and out.
The large pub garden is a perfect place to enjoy views over the Bristol Channel. And you might well be treated to some shipping activity while relaxing with a drink. An abundance of pretty string lights creates a lovely cosy feel when daylight begins to fade.
The new pub-restaurant offers fresh home-cooked food and is also well-positioned to take advantage of the views.
Dogs are allowed in the pub and garden. Water bowls and dog treats are provided.
Parking is free in their decent sized pub car-park.
Attractively decorated bedrooms are available above the pub, so The Royal could be a great option if you’re looking to book a hotel in Portishead.

THE WINDMILL INN, PORTISHEAD – NORE ROAD
For fabulous, estuary views, it’s hard to beat The Windmill Inn on Nore Road.
Much of the decor was updated during a major refurbishment in 2024. The pub’s layout didn’t change dramatically, with the exception of furniture arrangement on the ground floor. Booth seating now sensibly faces towards the sea, which gets a big thumbs up from me!
Food is served for much of the day, so it’s handy that the restaurant commands the best outlook of all. Only an impressive wall of glass separates diners from a panoramic vista, taking in the old pitch and putt golf course, Portishead Lido, and The Bristol Channel reaching across to the Welsh coast.
Head outside and continue to enjoy the estuary views from this tiered Portishead pub garden. As evening falls, expect to see mobile phones whipped out left, right and centre in an attempt to preserve the memory of another stunning Portishead sunset over the sea.
Several pods have been installed. These come in handy for sheltering from chilly winds whipping up from the channel on cooler days or the sun beating down on hot ones!
Surrounding fields and beaches nearby are popular with walkers. Following a ramble, we often meet fellow dog-owners who’ve felt the need to frequent the pub to keep their pets happy. Something to do with the tasty treats, I suppose.
