PORTISHEAD Team Honk Relay including BRISTOL

The Team Honk Relay team will reach Portishead on Monday 10th February. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

Late on Monday morning a couple of lady runners will slog 5 miles from Clifton Suspension Bridge to Portbury, via Pill, most likely accompanied by some inclement weather to ‘help’ them along their way. If you spot them please be sure to give them a big wave.

At around 12.45 they’ll hand over to a spectacular team of six horses and their riders in High Viz jacketswho are expected to bring the baton along Wyndham Way and through Portishead High Street between 1.30 and 2pm. This has taken a lot of organisation so please come out and show your support.

Participants can’t take donations so local businesses have offered to be around with collection tins. It would be great if you could help boost our local target by dropping a few pennies in. There’s a rumour that Emma from Impero Lounge will be sporting red pants. If that turns out to be true it has to be worth a pound doesn’t it?!

The Big Red Pants Fun Run will start at The Poachers Inn at about 2pm. You’re welcome to don something red and join us on our circuitous route to the Lakegrounds. There are mentions of scooters, roller skates, rosy cheeks and of course big red customised Team Honk knickers! All welcome.

At the Lakegrounds the baton will have a short rest until about 4pm to give children who’ve been at school the chance to come and join the rest of us at the cafe/playground area. Please feel free to bring your youngsters along to join in our 3000 mile relay race and pass the well travelled baton along the length of the Promenade before marching to the Youth Centre for light refreshments and a team photo.

Please come along and join in the fun and be part of the first ever Team Honk Lands End to John O’Groats relay. We’re aiming to raise £20,000 for Sport Relief! At the time of writing (Saturday 8th Feb) the relay has already raised an absurdly brilliant £14,738!  You can donate via our Bristol leg HERE.

We don’t want to leave anyone out so please use the icons at the bottom to share this post. Detailed schedule below.

Scientific research suggests that you can never have too many photos of red pants. Or did I just make that up?

It’s amazing isn’t it. Bristol total £700. Team total £16,500 as I write. Woah! Great team, unusual dress sense, but brilliant. So glad to be part of it 🙂

This has been an amazing day. Thank you to everyone who’s been involved and confirmed the incredible community spirit within Portishead and beyond – with special mentions to Sam from MissFit for duties above and beyond, Lisa Marie Chase (I’m aching and fit for bed now – you?), Sara Walters, the Impero Lounge, Judy Fowler and the superbly turned out team of horses and riders, the children who passed the baton along the beach front, Portishead Youth Centre, all the Bristol bloggers who make up #teamhonkbristol, the industrious tweeters who’ve tirelessly supported us from behind the scenes, everyone who donated along the way and last but definitely not least, my family who has put up with my distractedness over the last couple of weeks, posed for numerous photos and acted as official photographers and child minders extraordinaire! Over £16,000 nationally and £681 donated on-line so far.
