Rhubarb Speech and Drama sprouts into Portishead
A local mum with fifteen years English and Drama teaching experience, is taking a leap by leaving the teaching profession, and venturing into her enduring dream of a Portishead based Saturday Speech and Drama School. Laura McMahon (BA Hons, PGCE, PGCert Special Educational Needs) says “I have always wanted the freedom to design my own curriculum, focussing on public presentation skills that really matter for success. As the mainstream curriculum is now shifting towards core subjects, the arts are being diminished, leaving less room for creative subjects. Having my daughter last year really spurred me into action”.
Rhubarb Portishead which opens in March 2015 will provide youngsters with the opportunity to develop life skills in: clear speech and oral communication, strong social skills, self-confidence and the ability to present themselves and their ideas physically and vocally in public arenas. All vital abilities to be a well-rounded and successful person.
