PART 2:
WHERE TO STAY IN NORMANDY AND WHY CHOOSE EUROCAMP?
We discovered the UK’s leading European camping specialist, Eurocamp, several years ago, as soon as our third child needed his own bed and we needed a family holiday! Many other holiday types became inaccessible, either because the price pretty much doubled due to health and safety rules dictating we’d need a second room or apartment to accommodate five or because companies simply didn’t cater for more than two adults and two children.
Since then we’ve stayed in at least half a dozen Eurocamp parc homes, enjoying the convenience, kids’ clubs, freedom, and affordability they offer, so this year we were thrilled to be offered the chance to work with Eurocamp during our recent family trip to Normandy.
REVIEW & VIDEO TOUR OF LA VALEE PARC IN HOULGATE, NORMANDY, FRANCE
Having settled on Normandy as our destination, we sat down as a family and chose the 5 star La Valée Parc in Houlgate as our base. It’s conveniently located as it’s just a short drive from the Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Caen cruise-ferry crossing. The parc is within walking distance of the charming Norman town of Houlgate and its golden sandy beach and within easy reach of Normandy’s cultural attractions:- The Bayeux Tapestry, Normandy Landings beaches, Arromanches circular museum, The American Cemetery, William the Conqueror’s Chateau and Paleospace Dinosaur Museum, as well as super fun stuff like fossil hunting and the Bayeux Adventure!
HOLIDAY PARC VIDEO
Click on the video below to see a detailed tour of the family-friendly parc facilities which we enjoyed during our stay, including the swimming pool complex, children’s play areas, restaurant, bar, sports courts and football pitch plus ideas on some of the fun and interesting places to visit in Normandy . I also offer the spectacularly dull lowdown on where you can wash your dishes or find an ironing board (Yes, seriously people, there are folk who really do iron their clothes on holiday. If that’s you, the brief section on the laundry area is just for you!).
Enjoy the video and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below.
FAMILY FUN ACTIVITIES
Although we did lots of exploring in Normandy, the boys managed to find time to try out pretty much all the parc’s activities, such as table tennis, a bouncy castle, football and we all enjoyed playing tennis and the pool complex and slides. All these are in the video.
FOOD & DRINK
There’s an overview of the parc’s beverage and dining options, how we rate them and whether we think these are value for money.
TIPS & TRICKS
There’s also lots of info about what to do and what not to do on-site, where to visit in Normandy and how to make the most of your family stay.

WHAT’S NEXT ON OUR FAMILY TRIP TO NORMANDY?
Because this was such a good holiday for our family, I’m putting together an itinerary which will include the Portsmouth to Caen Ferry Crossing, the Eurocamp Normandy parc we stayed at, recommendations for cultural and fun family attractions in Normandy and our Caen to Portsmouth return journey with Brittany Ferries’, “Mont St Michel”. In the next post I’ll be covering the Normandy’s family-friendly activities in more detail. I hope to see you there!
THANK YOU to Eurocamp, Normandy Tourism and Brittany Ferries for your assistance and for hosting us on our Normandy Adventure trip.

I loved to read this, and we would love to do a Eurocamp some time. I totally agree, and have recently learned that most rooms and accommodation cater for 2+2 ! It looks a fab holiday destination x
Looks like a perfect family friendly destination
We had our first trip with Eurocamp last summer, and I have to say, it was one of our best breaks ever. The standard of childcare was extremely high, and the parc was lovely (La Garangeoire, in the Vendee). We’d love to try out Houlgate some time – it sounds brilliant too.
I love France and Euro Camp looks like such a wonderful family option, it sounds like you had a great trip x
I’ve not been to a Eurocamp before and having seen your video I’m seriously asking myself why not?! What a fun holiday and the setting looks very pretty too. And as for those water slides!
We’ve thought of doing Eurocamp for a while now – glad to hear other families are loving it. The slides look fab!
Those water slides look reason enough to book up to go here! Looks fab. Love the video too.
We love to visit Normandy and Eurocamp is good option – I’ve stayed at many!
That looks like so much. A lot of effort put into the video too, well done 🙂
I’ve been hankering after a trip to France after my cousin and family who live there came over to visit and it took me back to our stay at a site that had Eurocamp two years ago. It was so relaxing. So much to do on this site, looks fab, and the buildings are so pretty too!
