CHRISTMAS IN PORTISHEAD 2016
As the weather finally starts to get chilly, it’s time to publish Practically Perfect Mums’ annual guide to Christmas in Portishead. The festive feature includes ice rinks, Santa’s grottos, pantomimes, carol concerts, Christmas shows and school fairs and more – both right here in Portishead as well as farther afield in Bristol and North Somerset.
I’ll be adding more details as I receive them so do keep checking back if you’d like to hear more.

High Down Infant School’s terrific toy sale is a great event to kick-start the festive season and the perfect excuse to clear out the cupboards before Christmas and nab some bargains too.
Christmas Lights Switch On
Portishead High Street
21st November 2016
Head on down to the Precinct in the High Street at 6.30pm on 21st November for the big switch on.
Father Christmas is expected to arrive at approx. 6.15, and whilst he does his best to answer all children’s letters, parents need to make sure there is a clearly written address to reply to.

Carols for choir, audience and full orchestra. An exciting French programme, dominated by one of the greatest choral works from the 20th century: the Gloria by Francis Poulenc, composed in 1959.
As in previous years, there will be the opportunity for audience participation so be prepared to join in and get into the Christmas spirit!

Our Santas on the Run is a sight to behold. Thousands of Santas take to streets across the South West in this 2k festive fun run. Our Santa runs are not about speed or fitness so adults, children and even family pets are all invited to take part. Whether you have little ones in pushchairs, plan to dance your way around or are looking to set a record time – it’s a great day out for everyone! How about trying to get a big team together to help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary year? You can run with family, friends or colleagues – you could even make it your staff Christmas party this year!

Christmas Concert

Portishead Choral Society will be performing a variety of festive numbers in the fantastic setting of the chapel at Tyntesfield this Christmas. Founded in 1955, Portishead Choral Society will be singing at Tyntesfield for the very first time this year.
Tickets cost £15 and include a hot drink and a mince-pie. 12+ only.
