What’s on in Portishead, Bristol and Somerset for Families?

As little ones, all my children have had masses of great fresh-air-fun at the Lakegrounds play area and as a parent, the surrounding facilities have made it a preferred local destination.

Almost eight years on, however, our visits have become rarer. Sadly my children are outgrowing the Lakegrounds and now we often find ourselves driving outside of Portishead for age appropriate play areas.

So when I received the following letter from another local Mum I was somewhat shocked. . . .

This year’s Clevedon Marine Lake Festival is set to be the best ever. The annual free festival, taking place on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th September, promises great entertainment for the whole family.

As a Bristolian the Balloon Fiesta has been a part of the local summer scene for many years. We’ll certainly be taking our boys along.

As well as the Night Glow, Special Shapes and Mass Ascents, this year young festival goers can enjoy a dedicated Kids Zone plus special appearances from Transformers’ Optimus Prime.

And apart from the parking charges, it’s still FREE!

Let the stories begin! Children aged from four to 12 and their parents or carers are invited to their local North Somerset library to an imaginative adventure that will keep them reading throughout the school summer holidays. Every child who reads six books and completes the challenge receives a certificate and medal and can also be entered into a prize draw to win one of thirty junior swim cards to be used at leisure pools in North Somerset!
