Guide to Christmas Events in Portishead and Beyond 2014

So the Christmas lights have been switched on which means I officially can’t avoid thinking about Christmas any longer. With this in mind, I’ve compiled what I hope is a really useful guide to lots of festive community events in and around Portishead including carol concerts, shows and school fairs. If you like it, don’t keep it to yourself – please share it generously! Have anything to add? Just comment at the bottom or email me.

Please always check with the organiser before you travel as display times may be subject to change.

Oh What a Lovely War

Oh What a Lovely War

Somerset Hall, Portishead

11th to 13th December – 7.30pm plus 2pm matinee on Sat 13th

In this centenary year of the outbreak of world war one, Portishead Players present their production of Oh What a Lovely War. A group of pierrots will lead you to a posh London hotel, a glamorous music hall and to the misery and resulting camaraderie of the trenches in France. This show brings home the senselessness and irrationality of the war through ironic humour. With singing, dancing, storytelling and mime, this clever, thought-provoking production is likely to have you blinking back a tear, laughing out loud and singing along to familiar WW1 songs!

Tickets are now on sale at the following outlets: £10 adults, £7 juniors

Morgan-Westley and Mother Nature – Portishead High Street, during shop hours.

Cracking! Well done Practically Perfect Mums. Feeling the festive spirit already! Is ‘Gordon’ school ‘Gordano?’

Well spotted Lisa. I blame the wonders of autocorrect as clearly couldn’t have been my error ;)!
It also changed Failand Hall to ‘Failed Hall’ but luckily I spotted that one. Thanks for commenting and after your impending reindeer production line I imagine you’ll be well and truly in the festive mood. Good luck! x
